Agbor in Mourning: Human-rights Volunteer Christabel Aminu Allegedly Killed in Her Home; Suspect Said to Be Prison Escapee

Agbor, Delta State — Residents of Agbor are in shock after the reported murder of human-rights volunteer and community activist Christabel Aminu, who was found dead in her home earlier this week. Early online reports say the assailant is a prison escapee who has since been arrested in connection with the ki lling. According to local online outlets and social media posts by fellow activists, Aminu — described as a volunteer and known in the community for her rights work — was attacked inside her apartment in Ika South Local Government Area. Initial accounts say her phone, jewelry and other valuables were taken. Several posts identify the suspect as a man who recently escaped custody; social-media posts and community commentary give the name in varying spellings (for example, Michael Ezenwai / Micheal Ezeuwali).
